Cool Off in One of Florida’s Natural Springs

NEWS RELEASE TOPIC:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 27, 2009

Beat the heat by visiting one of Florida’s natural springs. Unlike summer swimming pools, springs maintain a cool, refreshing temperature through the entire summer. Swim, tube or canoe at one of the five springs at Blue Springs Park near Gainesville. The park also offers camp sites, excellent fishing spots, and attractive hiking trails. The quarter-mile long boardwalk winds along the spring and ends at the Santé Fe River. Wakulla Springs, near Tallahassee, is the largest and deepest freshwater spring in the world. Climb the park’s dive tower and jump right in! After you swim, be sure to take a glass-bottom boat tour. You’ll see alligators, turtles and birds on the surface as fish and other underwater creatures swim below you. Certified divers can explore some of the world’s most remarkable underwater caves while the rest of us check out the 1937-built lodge and its incredible history. Weeki Wachee Springs, near Spring Hill, offers a weekend of non-stop fun. Canoe, swim or visit the Buccaneer Bay. Take a river boat cruise, watch an animal show or meet the mermaids, who also perform live. For more information on Florida’s natural springs, check out www.VISITFLORIDA.com.
